I have the honour to acknowledge the

receipt of Your Lordship's Despatch No. 286 of the 4th. June with regard to the pension of Mr. Mitchell-Innes.

I have recommended in my Confidential Despatch of the 30th. May that all Hongkong pensions should be increased by 25 per centum. I may point out that Mr. Mitchell- -Innes is in a comparatively favourable condition, as his

pension is paid at 48. 2d. to the dollar.
